MJ Players of the Week (through Feb. 10)
Erin Pettegrew, Avon
Won an individual title in the 100 fly at the Division I Northeast Sectional Swimming Championships. Her time of 59.90 was a career-record as she rallied from fourth in the second 50 to defeat Rachael Zarlinski of Magnificat.
Boys Swimming
Tyler Moore, Amherst
Finished second at sectionals for the second-straight year in the 100 breast (1:00.92) after taking second earlier in the 200 IM in a high school best time of 1:59.45.
Girls Bowling
Morgan Blevins, Sandusky
Bowled series of 341 and 411 in the Blue Streaks’ wins over Norwalk and Huron. Blevins earned medalist honors both times.
Boys Bowling
Maxx Tamburrino, Perkins
Bowled a 436 series (223-213) in the Pirates’ 3,047-2,854 win over Huron. Tamburrino followed that up with a 455 series (233-222) in a 2,964-2,391 win over Fremont Ross.
Hockey
Brock Behler. Midview
Recorded a hat trick and added three assists in Midview’s 11-2 win over Cleveland Heights in Baron Cup III action.
Wrestling
Jeremy King, Keystone
In the 160-pound weight class, the junior pinned Kirtland’s Anthony Parker in 1:15 to give the Wildcats some breathing room in their 49-29 win the Region 19 team championship.
