MORNING JOURNAL/SAM GREENE Avon head coach Mike Elder disputes a holding call during the first quarter in the OHSAA Region 6 championship game against Toledo Central Catholic at Clyde High School in Clyde last season.

Columbia coach Jason Ward led the Raiders to a historic run in 2012, not only hosting its first playoff game in school history, but winning that game in a 39-36 thriller over Archbold.

Columbia finished the season 10-2 and won the Patriot Athletic Conference Stripes Division.

Avon’s Mike Elder coached the Eagles to their third-straight West Shore Conference championship and an 11-2 overall record.

Avon reached the regional final for the second straight season and won 11 straight games over the course of the season.
